Become a Figma Auto Layout Wizard

Discover the magic of Figma's auto layout feature in our virtual workshop designed to elevate your design skills. Auto layout enables you to create dynamic designs that automatically adapt to their contents. It's an essential time-saving tool that should be used frequently when creating user interfaces. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced designer, this workshop will empower you to dramatically reduce the amount of repetitive, manual work and streamline your design process.

Learn the fundamentals of auto layout, how to use it, and when to use it. Avoid common auto layout mistakes, and get tips and tricks to work even more efficiently. Get hands-on practice with new auto layout features, like item wrapping and minimum/maximum widths and heights.

By the end of this workshop, you'll have the foundation to effectively leverage Figma's auto layout feature, allowing you to quickly create designs that pixel-perfect, consistent, and adaptable.

This workshop is for you if you're new to Figma's auto layout feature, not already using auto layout for pretty much everything, or if you want to brush up on your auto layout skills. Basic familiarity with Figma is recommended.

Virtual Workshop: Designing Authentically and Leading Design

  • Zoom link to be provided (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

We’ll take 2 days to talk about Designing Authentically, and Leading Design on an online workshop.

In Designing Authentically we identify and go deep into understanding our own personal values, what it means to articulate and define those values, and how to create intentions for modeling those values. We’ll also discuss what it means and feels like when our values are violated, and how to be aware and intentional when talking with others.

Leading Design discusses leadership from a place of personal power and understanding the difference of personal and positional power. Personal power can never be taken away - and is key to affecting change regardless of what scale one works at. It’s the art of listening, and the art of facilitating, all with confidence and courage.

Each day will be from 10AM to 2PM Pacific.

Storytelling in Resume and Portfolio Virtual Workshop

  • Zoom link to be provided (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Spending time on revamping your resume? In search of that new job or role? In this virtual workshop we’ll spend 2 days talking through storytelling as it pertains to resume writing, target roles, and portfolios.

Day 1 will be dedicated to story arc and how language in a resume and portfolio is used to determine appropriate levels and scope. We’ll also look at how levels of zoom play into what’s expected at different levels/titles in Design.

Day 2 will be time to review portfolios with others 1:1, and a chance to offer and receive feedback to strengthen presentation. Limited time will be available for those looking for broader feedback from the group.

If anything, this workshop will provide dedicated time to working on that resume and portfolio with others!

Each Day will be 10AM -2PM Pacific via Zoom.
